Welcome to the Shavenyak Web ServerHome of the scruffy buffalo cousins |

Why Shavenyak?See my buddies and I were at this bar one night...Actually, it just seemed like a good idea at the time. It was the Dot-Com boom, everyone was buying up domains like kids in a penny-candy store (do those even exist anymore?) and so I had to get in on the action. I wanted my own domain, something that stuck out and could be remembered easily. Something I could tell my children, and my children's children about. Err... not really. Shavenyak has been upgraded! Shavenyak used to be hosted on my little Celeron 500 box with 256 megs of RAM, running Redhat Linux 7.2. Now it is hosted on my Pentium IV 2.8 ghz machine running Fedora Core 4. It still acts as my file server, database server, web server, router, firewall, streaming music server, and more. |

My MP3 DatabaseThis is one of my ongoing pet projects. I have built a custom MP3 database so that I can access my MP3's anywhere. It uses a PostgreSQL database backend, and I have written my own Perl Interface driver so that I can hook it into my Rio Receivers, TiVo's Home Media option, and of course through a Web GUI.Due to certain zealous and overly litigious compaines I can't let just anyone into my Web MP3 Server. But if I know you (or get to know you) feel free to drop me a line and I can grant you access to the database and let you borrow my music. For those that are curious. You can see my Interactive Demo WebPage here.

Streaming MediaEvery website should have streaming media! It's really the only reason to get on the internet.
